The California Poultry Federation (CPF) acts as the watchdog for the California poultry industry as it works to collect information on issues of interest to the industry while at the same time acting as the industry's advocate on a wide variety of regulatory and legislative issues. Members of the CPF benefit from the organization's access to the highest levels of government where critical decisions are made on legislative and regulatory matters. The CPF works to maintain a positive working relationship with the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Agriculture which regulate the California poultry industry. CPF members have access to the decision making process in Sacramento and Washington DC as the CPF works to make the industry's voice heard on a regular basis. CPF members travel to Sacramento once a year for a Legislative Day which puts them in touch with the state's key decision makers. In addition, members receive regular updates from the CPF on the status of crucial state and federal legislation and regulatory matters. In the political arena, the CPF administers both a state and federal Political Action Committee which collects funds to distribute to candidates who support the goals of the California poultry industry. The CPF serves as a one-stop-shopping center for information produced by such national poultry organizations as the National Chicken Council and the National Turkey Federation. The CPF works closely with these national organizations on national legislative and regulatory issues so that the industry speaks with one voice. CPF members receive a Weekly News Update by email or fax, as well as the Daily Headline News, keeping them up to date on the latest developments in the poultry industry. An annual conference held in the Fall allows industry members to gather together socially and to prepare for the upcoming year. It's a great opportunity for members of the industry to get to know each other and to learn about future trends affecting the industry.
